Gaming Disorder on Illness listWHO Says
Gaming disorder describes
a person making gaming a priority over other life activities or interest despite it cutting into a healthy lifestyle by habits such as lack of sleep.
However, if you play video
games, it doesn't mean you have the condition.
According to the WHO definition,
someone must be observed for over a year before they are diagnosed.
The organization itself spent several years studying the signs of the condition before adding it to the list.
Scientist Vladimir Poznyak said most people who play video games do not have the condition and "in certain circumstances overuse can lead to adverse effects."
He also urged health professionals to begin recognizing the disorder.
