surface.

is divided into five different oceans.

For many years only four oceans were
officially recognized in 2000.
The International hydrographic organization established the Southern Ocean.

The Pacific Ocean is by far the world's
largest ocean.
The Atlantic Ocean is the world's
second-largest ocean.
The Indian Ocean is the world's
third-largest ocean.

The Southern Ocean is the world's newest and fourth-largest ocean.
The Arctic Ocean is the world's smallest ocean.
